Where can I find data on slave voyages?

The answer

The main public resource is SlaveVoyages (slavevoyages.org), which hosts the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database. The National Endowment for the Humanities describes it as drawing on 57 contributors and 34,948 voyages. Other scholarly projects maintain databases of the names of enslaved Africans. Each explains its methods and limitations, which students should read, since some figures are estimated where records are missing.
